Our Satisfied Customers
Dear Bruce:

I would like to thank you and the Avatar Salon staff for providing hair and make-up services for the recent fashion show sponsored by the African Caribbean Student Association and the Black Student Alliance at Marymount University.  A portion of the proceeds were donated to the Covenant House in Washington, D.C.

The talents of your professional team enhanced the overall production.  The students thoroughly enjoyed working with you and your staff.  You helped them to relax and grow from the experience.  The student coordinators of the show were proud and they received a lot of positive feedback from the patrons.

As always, it was a pleasure working with you.  I wish you much continued success and hope we have an opportunity to work with you again in the future.

Sincerely,

Vincent Stovall
Director of Student Activities

Dear Mr. Johnson:

Your contribution or the Pediatrics Aids Unit Fund provides HOPE for the children and families at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children.

As you can imagine, the hospital can be a frightening and lonely place for children, and they can feel disconnected from the rest of the world. Whether it is a serious illness or a treatable disorder, children and their families need to know that they are not alone in their fight for a healthier life. With your support, our children are able to feel more at ease and comfort while their families know that those who CARE for their children extends beyond the doctors, nurses, and technicians, outside of the hospital walls, and into the community of friends and neighbors.

Your contribution reinforces your belief in the mission and the efforts of all associated with the Hospital for Children. You have the satisfaction of knowing that your contribution is being used to save lives, helping to ensure that all children have access to the best medical care, and providing the comforts of HOME for the children and their families as they bravely battle illness and disease.

THANK YOU for your support!

Sincerely,

Roger Marquis

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU AVATAR

To the Staff and Patrons of AVATAR:

I would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank you” for all you did to make a difference in people’s lives during the holiday season. Words cannot express how grateful I am for the love and kindness you showed to families in need. It was phenomenal!

There are two families that benefited from your benevolence. As you can imagine, the predicament of each family is overwhelming but because of you, they made it through the holidays. Family #1 is a product of Domestic Violence.  After years of violence, the mother finally had the courage to get help for she and her children. That important step, caused her to become a single parent of three; a new born and two school age children. Needless to say, the woman was scared, and plagued with questions about bow she was going to make it. In fact, a few hours before the staff of AVATAR arrived with baskets of food and other essentials, the woman was feeding her children noodles for dinner (that was all she had). The children began whining and complaining that they did not want noodles, they wanted something else (like when their father was around). The woman feeling so overwhelmed just broke down and cried. She later put the children to bed and then came the knock on the door: it was AVATAR.

Family #2 is a product of our economy. Family #2 is a two parent family with three children. Until ii months ago, the father was gainfully employed while the mother stayed home with the two younger children. Once the father become unemployed, both parents looked for work faithfully. Odd jobs became available to keep themselves afloat but the fact is that they could not afford daycare for the two younger children while both parents worked; nor were they making “ends meet”. AVATAR blessed this family and made a difference. The husband approached me with tears in his eyes and said “The love we experienced this holiday was more than I could have asked. It helped me to believe and know that God is faithful and that me and my family will not remain in this predicament.” I wanted to cry too.

Thank you AVATAR.

Stephanie Clark

Dear Mr. Johnson,

Thank you for your generous gift of $1000.00 to St. Ann's Infant and Maternity Home.

I appreciate your assistance in providing for the children and teen moms in our care.  Through your support you join us in the work we do and I value your partnership.

Our work is both heart wrenching and heart warming.  It is heart wrenching to see the degree of suffering so many of our children have experienced before coming to St. Ann's. Likewise it is troubling to know the extremely difficult life situations that many of our teen moms have faced, and the formidable obstacles they will have to overcome if they to avoid a  lifetime of poverty.

But it is heart warming to see these same children and teen moms begin to heal and grow while they are at St. Ann's receiving quality care, attention and supplemental services in a loving and supportive environment. It gives us joy to see a child who, just a few weeks earlier, had been weak, withdrawn and lethargic begin to show the energy, curiosity and enthusiasm so typical of most three year olds.  Similarly, it is uplifting to observe the transformation of a young mother who, with guidance and support, begins to develop the skills and attitude she'll need to build a better life for herself and her child.  As we witness their improvement it confirms in us the knowledge that what we do and what you do with us - is important and well worth our efforts.

On behalf of all the children and young mothers we serve, I thank you for your kind support. Your gift brings healing and hope to our children.

Gratefully,

Sister Mary Bader
Administrator
