Bruce G. Johnson
Bruce G. Johnson is the owner of Avatar Salon &
Wellness Spa and the president and founder of The Avatar
Wellness Foundation in
Silver Spring
,
MD.
He has served the
beauty industry for over twenty years and his standard of
quality has permeated national as well as international borders
as he studied, taught, and competed in London, Toronto, Paris,
Amsterdam, Greece, and across the United States.
Mr. Johnson is seeking to inspire a new generation of
beauty consultants and also consumers through his practice, his
approach, and by his example.
Both of Bruce's organizations have a lifetime
commitment of providing the best customer service of beauty and
wellness and also providing financial support to programs which
are working to enhance the quality of life for pediatric
HIV/AIDS patients.
As a husband, father, salon owner, trainer, consultant,
and businessman, Bruce has won numerous awards nationally and
internationally. Some

voted from 2002-present one of
Washingtonian
Magazine's Top Hair Salons, 2007 voted one of Bethesda

Magazine featured him in a 'Dare-Dreaming' Article which
discussed how he left college to pursue a his passion, and in
1997 Bruce was the winner of The Canadian Cup International Hair
Competition in Toronto, Canada, where he became the first
American as well as African-American to achieve this honor.
As a hairdresser Bruce has conducted many seminars around
the country on haircutting, hairstyling, hair coloring, and time
management in the salon. He
has worked on a host of notable clients such as: Performing
Artist Aretha Franklin, Mikki Howard, Bebe and Cece Winan, Ann
Nesby, Patti Austin; Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice,

In June of 1998, he created the Avatar Wellness
Foundation, which since has raised over $20,000 in donations for
such organizations as: The University of Maryland Hospital for
Children's Pediatric AIDS Program, Georgetown University
Hospital's Pediatric AIDS Program, and The St. Ann's Infant
and Maternity Home in Prince George's County.
Other organizations that have benefited from Avatar
Wellness are: Shepherd's Table, Locks of Love, an annual
scholarship to a deserving graduate of St. Michaels School of
Silver Spring, MD, Toys for Tots, and chosen families in the
Metropolitan area that have experienced certain hardships.
